Chocolate also contains a number of chemicals useful for our beshroomed brain’s psycho awareness. Tryptophan, a compound found in chocolate is used by our brains to produce serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter fluid which can produce feelings of elation – otherwise known as ecstasy. Chocolate also contains anandamide – a neurotransmitter fluid that targets the same brain receptor sites that the THC in cannabis targets. While all the biochemistry of chocolate has been worked out surely the special synergistic mix is worth exploring.
½ ounce magic mushrooms (the commercially grown p. cubensis work nicely)
1 lb bag of chocolate chips at room temperature (dark chips taste best)
1-2 tbsp canola oil
2-3 tbsp cocoa butter
This recipe will result in about fourteen 2gram chocolates, each containing the equivalent of about 1 gram of psilocybin (a perfect per person amount). Lightly chop the mushrooms into small pieces – try not to pulverize. Cook the mushroom in the mixture of canola oil and cocoa butter. Let it low simmer for 15 minutes or so, until the mushroom mass is thoroughly limp. Then carefully strain out the plant material from the oil/butter – saving this oil/butter and tossing the plant material for a visually superior final product.
Next you want to slowly melt the chocolate chips into the mix of b’shroomed oil/butter. First a note on the delicacies of cooking chocolate, which is some very tricky food to cook. Temperatures too low can cause chocolate to harden unevenly and temperatures too high will scorch the chocolate. Temperatures of 105-115 degrees F are best. Very warm better escribes this temperature. Heating slowly is thus best. The darker the chocolate that one uses the more slowly and carefully one needs to heat and re-solidify the chocolate mass. While traditional chocolate cooking recipes call for the use of a double boiler to heat chocolate, I prefer using the microwave, which can be a tad tedious (microwaving only a few seconds at a time) but produces very good results.
Slowly nuke the chips until they are soft and malleable. Try microwaving no more than a few seconds at a go, then stirring and nuking a few more seconds. In this fashion, slowly you get melted chocolate to which the b'shroomed oil/butter combo can be added. Once all combined, you can pour (drip) the chocolate mass into some cookie/candy forms or even out onto a cookie sheet for final cooling. Divide the mass into 14 equal size chucks of about two grams, each containing about 1 gram of psilocybin – a perfect per person amount. As always enjoy these chocolates away from prying eyes and in a safe environment. Never mail beshroomed chocolates.
